NOT SURE WHICH LESSON'S RIGHT FOR YOU?
20 Minutes
Short and Sweet
Although our recommendations change from case to case, at Backbone Drum School we generally recommend 20 minute lessons for young children around the ages of 5-7. This is because the primary objective for students at this age is to develop a good relationship with the instrument and towards learning, without straining their ability to focus throughout the lesson.
30 Minutes
Standard
30 minutes is the most common lesson duration across all instruments. If the student is able to focus for this duration of time, then 30 minute lessons is usually the safest option regardless of skill level.
60 Minutes
Advanced
60 minute drum lessons are usually only recommended for adults or advanced students who are looking to take their drumming and music education to the next level. These type of lessons allow the teachers and students to cover a wide range of difficult or advanced topics in great depth.
LESSON STRUCTURE
Lessons are individually tailored to the unique goals and needs of our students. Every lesson will cover important topics to drumming and music such as; technique, rhythm, rudiments, music theory and practical application. However, the time spent on each of these topics will vary depending on the differing strengths, weaknesses and ambitions of our students.
